MoralityCode App Evolution: Phase 2 Development and System Improvements

Job Purpose
This role supports the enhancement of the MoralityCode Mobile App (Version 2), an ethical decision-making tool that integrates moral philosophy, emotional intelligence, and a health/medical model. The app aims to address emotional and moral gaps in AI systems by blending technology, spirituality, and philosophy. The enhancement phase focuses on refining AI reasoning, integrating African ancestral wisdom, applying theological frameworks, improving UI/UX, and expanding the app's real-life impact. The goal is to make the app more intuitive, inclusive, and transformative, contributing to a more stable, scalable, and technically advanced application.
Responsibilities
The volunteer will contribute to the enhancement of the MoralityCode Mobile App (Version 2). Specific tasks will depend on the assigned role: Backend & Data Systems support involves building data validation pipelines, introducing caching layers, optimizing database queries, and supporting AI/ML integration. Frontend, UX & Design System support focuses on improving UI quality, accessibility, responsiveness, navigation flow, and adding offline functionality. Intelligence, Security & DevOps support includes setting up CI/CD pipelines, implementing role-based access control, strengthening application security, and supporting AI/ML integration. Key outcomes include a more stable and scalable app, improved usability, enhanced AI reasoning, and expanded philosophical content.
Work Experience
Required experience includes a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Proficiency in Python (Intermediate to Advanced), experience with VS Code and Jupyter Notebook, and proven app development/deployment skills are necessary. Hands-on experience with Kivy and Buildozer, and understanding of the Google Play Store submission process are also required.
