Job Purpose
This role supports the UNEP India Country Office in developing technical training materials for solid and plastic waste management. The assignment aims to convert technically sound information into structured, audience-appropriate learning content. The volunteer will contribute to enhancing capacity-building efforts by simplifying complex information, developing practical examples, and adapting materials for diverse stakeholders. The ultimate goal is to produce a comprehensive training package that aids in effective waste management strategies and promotes environmental sustainability in India.
Responsibilities
The volunteer will assist in reviewing technical documents, regulations, and reports to prepare training content on solid and plastic waste management. Responsibilities include compiling and organizing relevant information, drafting content for presentations and learning materials, and simplifying technical details for various stakeholder groups. The role involves creating presentation slides, facilitator notes, handouts, and other supporting materials, along with developing practical examples and case studies. The volunteer will also help adapt materials for specific audiences, review drafts for consistency and accuracy, and incorporate feedback. The assignment culminates in organizing the materials into a structured package for capacity-building activities.
Work Experience
No prior professional work experience is required. However, relevant university coursework, research projects, dissertations, internships, or volunteer assignments related to solid waste management, plastic waste management, recycling, circular economy, or resource efficiency are considered assets. Experience or interest in developing training or educational materials is also preferred.
Skills
Required skills include good research, writing, and analytical abilities. The candidate must be able to understand technical environmental information and present it clearly and concisely. Proficiency in standard word-processing and presentation software is essential. Strong attention to detail, particularly in referencing and source verification, is necessary. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required. An academic background or demonstrated interest in solid waste and plastic waste management is strongly preferred.
