Organizational Context

Operating within the context of the ongoing war, UNICEF Ukraine requires timely and compelling communication to raise awareness, showcase results, support advocacy, and mobilize support for children's rights amidst complex humanitarian response efforts.
Job Purpose
This role is crucial for bolstering UNICEF Ukraine's communication capacity during a period of intense conflict and humanitarian response. The UN Volunteer will contribute to planning, coordinating, and executing communication activities, working closely with programme teams and partners. The assignment involves developing and disseminating diverse communication content, including stories, press materials, and digital content, to amplify UNICEF's messages, promote children's rights, and increase the visibility of interventions. The volunteer will ensure communication aligns with UNICEF's values and global guidelines, emphasizing ethical storytelling and child safeguarding.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will support UNICEF Ukraine’s communication and advocacy strategy by gathering and verifying information on programmes. Key duties include drafting and translating various communication materials (press releases, articles, social media content) in Ukrainian and English, and supporting the production of visual and multimedia content. The role involves documenting the impact of the war on children and communities ethically, monitoring media coverage, and assisting in the preparation of campaign materials and reports. The volunteer will also support communication on specific advocacy areas and perform other related duties as required.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience is required in communications, journalism, public relations, media relations, advocacy, or digital communications. Experience in humanitarian or emergency response settings is advantageous. Proficiency in developing diverse communication materials and engaging with stakeholders is essential. Fluency in Ukrainian and English is mandatory.
