Organizational Context
The International Center for Training in Human Rights and Sustainable Development (C.I.F.D.H/D.D) hosts the "Mate Swell" youth movement. This movement aims to promote sustainable development and combat environmental neglect through community-led action. It educates on waste impact, strengthens community resilience, and fosters social reintegration. The initiative aligns with global efforts to address hunger and food insecurity, leveraging collective action for community support.
Job Purpose
This role supports the "Mate Swell" movement's campaign for World Food Day, focusing on food collection and meal distribution to vulnerable populations on October 16, 2026. The purpose is to mobilize communities, raise awareness about food insecurity, and promote solidarity through practical action. Volunteers will contribute to organizing the campaign, collecting donations, and distributing meals, fostering a lasting culture of support and youth engagement in humanitarian efforts. The assignment emphasizes the power of collective action to make a significant impact on food security.
Responsibilities
Volunteers will engage in community mobilization, recruiting at least 20 additional volunteers and building local support teams. They will identify and contact potential food donors (individuals, businesses, organizations) and coordinate the collection of donated items. Partnership development involves identifying and engaging local entities, community leaders, and authorities. Communication efforts include creating and disseminating promotional materials, managing social media content, and potentially engaging local media to increase visibility. Volunteers will also assist in organizing meal preparation and distribution activities, ensuring respectful treatment of beneficiaries. Documentation of activities, including photos, videos, and testimonials, is crucial, along with reporting on recruitment, donations, and outcomes, and identifying challenges for future improvements.
Work Experience
Previous experience in community organizing, youth mobilization, food donation initiatives, humanitarian or solidarity activities, nutrition or food security projects, community development, NGO work, or partnership development is advantageous. Experience with local authorities, grassroots organizations, or social media communication is also beneficial.
Skills
Key competencies include strong interest or experience in community organizing, youth mobilization, food security, nutrition, humanitarian action, communication, and event management. Skills in partnership development, stakeholder engagement, social media communication, and documentation (photography/videography) are desirable. Fluency in English, French, or Spanish is also a plus.
