Organizational Context

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) works in 177 countries to build resilient nations and empower lives by partnering with societies at all levels. This role supports the Technical Assistance Centre (TAC) initiative in Jamaica, aiming to create an efficient environment for government agencies, service providers, partners, and community members to access and deliver services seamlessly. The volunteer will provide crucial operational and logistical support under the direct supervision of the UNDP Project Officer.

Job Purpose

The Community Logistics Support Volunteer will provide essential operational and logistical assistance to ensure the successful planning, coordination, and implementation of the Technical Assistance Centre (TAC) initiative. Working closely with the UNDP Project Officer, the volunteer will manage event preparations, venue operations, equipment, and materials, and support stakeholder engagement. The primary goal is to establish and maintain a safe, organized, and efficient environment, facilitating seamless service delivery and access for all participants, including government agencies, service providers, partners, and community members. This role is critical for the smooth functioning of the TAC.

Responsibilities

Pre-event responsibilities include assisting with all logistical aspects of the TAC, organizing and distributing event materials, preparing registration and signage, verifying equipment availability, and coordinating with participating agencies and vendors. During the event, the volunteer will support venue setup, manage inventory, act as a logistical runner, respond to operational requests, assist service providers, monitor event spaces, and help manage crowd flow and signage. Administrative support involves maintaining attendance records, documenting activities, coordinating schedules, organizing project documents, and communicating operational needs. Post-event duties include dismantling infrastructure, packing reusable materials, documenting equipment status, organizing records, and contributing to debriefings. The volunteer will also participate in training and uphold UN values.

Work Experience

No prior experience is strictly required. However, three months of relevant experience is desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with experience supporting community events, logistics, volunteer activities, or project implementation. Strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, collaborative work ethic, basic digital literacy, and the capacity for light physical tasks are essential. Flexibility in working hours is also required.
