This role supports the Technical Assistance Centre (TAC) initiative in Jamaica, focusing on community engagement and communications within the local operating environment.

Job Purpose

The Community Communications Support Volunteer will assist the UNDP Project Officer in planning and executing communications and public engagement activities for the Technical Assistance Centre (TAC) initiative in Savanna-la-Mar, Jamaica. Key contributions include supporting community outreach, disseminating public information, documenting events, engaging stakeholders, and managing communications logistics. The volunteer will play a crucial role in increasing public awareness, fostering community participation, and effectively communicating the initiative's impact and visibility to community members and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

The volunteer will support community outreach by implementing awareness activities, engaging community members with information on the TAC initiative, distributing promotional materials, and identifying outreach opportunities. They will respond to general inquiries and collect community feedback. For event visibility, the volunteer will assist in preparing and displaying communication materials, supporting event coordination, welcoming media and visitors, and maintaining information desks. Responsibilities also include event documentation through photography and videography, organizing event data, and recording success stories and testimonials. Additionally, the volunteer will provide digital communications support, monitor engagement, assist with digital tools, and maintain records. Stakeholder engagement involves serving as a point of contact, facilitating communication, directing participants, and promoting inclusive communication. Other duties include participating in training, upholding UN values, maintaining confidentiality, and adhering to UNDP guidance.

Work Experience

No prior experience is required. Three months of relevant experience is desirable. Preference is given to residents of Savanna-la-Mar with strong community knowledge and engagement skills. Experience in community outreach, communications, public engagement, customer service, event support, or volunteer activities is an asset. Basic digital literacy and experience with mobile photography/videography are beneficial.
