Organizational Context
The UN Human Rights Office in Guatemala (OHCHR) was established in 2005 through an agreement between OHCHR and the Government of Guatemala. Its mandate includes observing the human rights situation, reporting, and providing legal and technical advice to national authorities and civil society. The office aims to enhance national capacities for human rights protection and promotion, aligning its activities with OHCHR's global strategic objectives and work plans for 2024-2027.
Job Purpose
The Online Volunteer will provide technical support for the reorganization and optimization of the office spaces for the UN Human Rights Office in Guatemala. This involves developing a technical proposal to update architectural plans based on the current workspace distribution and provided information, including documents, plans, photographs, and measurements. The goal is to create an updated architectural plan and conceptual digital visualization of the spaces, ensuring compliance with UN institutional and operational standards and incorporating best practices in safety, accessibility, and sustainability.
Responsibilities
The volunteer will support the development of a technical proposal to update the architectural plans for the OHCHR Guatemala office. This includes analyzing the current distribution of workspaces and incorporating provided documentation. The proposal should consider various spaces such as open and closed workstations, meeting rooms, archives, storage areas, common areas, garden, parking, and restrooms. Expected deliverables include an updated architectural plan, a basic inventory of spaces and workstations, identification and sizing of workstations within the proposed concept, conceptual digital visualization (including 3D views if possible), and editable files with a PDF version. The proposal should also reference best practices in workplace safety, accessibility for persons with disabilities, and efficient, sustainable space utilization.
Work Experience
No specific years of work experience are mentioned as a strict requirement. However, a university degree in a relevant field is necessary. Complementary studies in space planning, interior design, universal accessibility, sustainability, or project management are advantageous.
