Organizational Context

The UNICEF Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean is seeking an Online Volunteer to enhance safeguarding awareness. The goal is to foster a safe, respectful, and accountable workplace culture by creating accessible communication materials. These materials will help personnel understand their safeguarding responsibilities, expected behaviors, reporting mechanisms, and available support systems, aligning with UNICEF's commitment to a survivor-centered and people-centered approach.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this assignment is to design an engaging office poster and a comprehensive staff booklet on safeguarding, both in English and Spanish. These materials will serve as key communication tools for staff awareness, onboarding, and internal training across UNICEF's LAC office. The expected contribution is to produce visually appealing and informative content that clearly communicates safeguarding messages, reinforces individual responsibilities, and promotes a culture of safety, respect, and accountability, ensuring alignment with UNICEF branding and accessibility standards.

Responsibilities

The Online Volunteer will design two safeguarding communication products: an office awareness poster and a staff safeguarding booklet, in both English and Spanish. This involves developing creative concepts and visual layouts, ensuring the poster effectively communicates key safeguarding messages and promotes a safe workplace. The booklet will detail safeguarding principles, staff duties, expected conduct, reporting procedures, and support resources. The volunteer will incorporate provided content and branding guidelines, create visual elements like infographics and icons, and ensure materials are accessible and culturally appropriate. Final designs will be revised based on UNICEF feedback, and editable and print-ready files must be provided.

Work Experience

Required experience includes proficiency in graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or Figma. Experience in designing posters, brochures, booklets, or awareness materials is essential. Strong visual communication and layout skills are necessary, along with the ability to work with bilingual content. Experience with NGOs, child rights, safeguarding, or social impact initiatives is considered an asset.

Skills

Key skills include graphic design (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma), strong visual communication and layout abilities, and experience creating awareness materials like posters and booklets. The ability to work with bilingual content (English and Spanish) is crucial. Familiarity with NGO work, child rights, safeguarding principles, or social impact is desirable. The volunteer must also be able to provide editable and print-ready files.
