Organizational Context

UN Women Chile promotes gender equality, women's empowerment, and the full exercise of their rights. The office develops initiatives and partnerships to advance these goals and place gender equality on the public agenda. Communication and social media are vital tools for reaching audiences, showcasing results, disseminating information, and raising awareness about women's rights and gender equality.

Job Purpose

This assignment aims to strengthen UN Women Chile's Communications unit, particularly during the busy final quarter of the year. The volunteer will support planning and content management for digital platforms, especially social media, ensuring timely, strategic communication aligned with institutional priorities. Key support will be provided during the commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (November 25th) and the 16 Days of Activism campaign, which require intensive content production and dissemination.

Responsibilities

The volunteer will support UN Women Chile's Communications unit in planning, creating, and managing content for social media and other digital channels. Key duties include: - Assisting in planning and scheduling social media posts aligned with communication priorities, campaigns, and relevant dates. - Contributing to the creation and adaptation of social media content, including posts, stories, and carousels. - Supporting the organization and updating of the editorial calendar and content planning tools. - Assisting with basic monitoring of social media performance, collecting metrics, and identifying high-engagement content. - Providing support for other digital communication tasks related to UN Women Chile's activities. - Helping draft impact stories and content for the UN Women regional website to highlight the office's work in Chile.

Work Experience

No specific prior work experience is strictly required, but academic or extracurricular experience in communications, content creation, digital campaigns, or social media management is considered an asset. Familiarity with digital tools and social media platforms is expected.

Skills

Fluency in written and spoken Spanish. Basic knowledge of digital communication and social media management. Strong writing, editing, and content adaptation skills for digital platforms. Ability to support content planning and editorial calendar organization. Proficiency with digital tools and social media platforms (Instagram, X, etc.). Familiarity with design/editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe) is a plus. Organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines. Collaborative spirit and ability to follow institutional guidelines. Interest in gender equality, women's rights, sustainable development, and the UN.
