Job Purpose
The UNV Monitoring Officer will support UNICEF Sudan's goal of promoting equitable development and safeguarding children's rights, particularly in conflict and disaster-affected areas. The role involves assisting in the systematic monitoring of UNICEF-supported programs implemented by government and partner organizations. This includes tracking activities, measuring progress, and documenting results. The position is crucial for ensuring timely data collection, analysis, and availability of key indicators to support evidence-based decision-making. The officer will contribute to the effective utilization and rollout of monitoring systems, ensuring data quality and compliance with standards, and supporting the generation of reliable information on affected populations.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Monitoring Specialist, the UNV Monitoring Officer will conduct monitoring visits to UNICEF project sites to assess local conditions, monitor inputs, delivery, and utilization. Responsibilities include supporting systematic monitoring of UNICEF-supported programs, tracking activities, and documenting results. The role involves assisting in timely data collection, analysis, and ensuring the availability of data for evidence-based decision-making. The officer will support the effective utilization and rollout of monitoring systems, including data collection, reporting, and quality assurance. They will also coordinate with Field Offices and Third-Party Monitoring teams, strengthen the generation of information on affected populations, and assist in maintaining or developing dashboards for monitoring findings. Additionally, the role includes conducting training sessions for staff and partners on monitoring tools and systems.
Work Experience
Requires 3-5 years of proven experience in program monitoring and/or data management/analysis. Essential skills include excellent data collection, analysis, and interpretation abilities, proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), strong organizational and time management skills, and excellent written and oral communication. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and statistical software is necessary. Experience in complex environments and adaptability to diverse cultures are also important.
