Job Purpose
The Emergency Information Management and Reporting Officer will support UNICEF's critical emergency coordination and response functions in Sudan. This role is vital for managing humanitarian information, maintaining robust reporting systems, and developing analytical products. The officer will contribute to evidence-based decision-making by ensuring the timely production of high-quality emergency reports and operational updates. By consolidating and analyzing data from various sources, the position directly supports preparedness, response monitoring, and strategic planning, ultimately enhancing UNICEF's ability to deliver life-saving assistance to children and vulnerable populations amidst one of the world's largest humanitarian crises.
Responsibilities
The Emergency Information Management and Reporting Officer will manage emergency information systems, including databases and repositories, ensuring data quality through cleaning and validation. Responsibilities include consolidating information from field offices and partners, and developing visualization products like dashboards and maps. The role involves monitoring humanitarian developments and analyzing multisectoral data to identify trends, gaps, and risks, contributing to preparedness and strategic planning. The officer will support the timely preparation of various humanitarian updates, briefing notes, and management summaries, ensuring consistency and adherence to quality standards. Additionally, the position will facilitate information flow, support coordination meetings, and assist in tracking action points. Promoting ethical data management, supporting capacity building on information systems, and contributing to accountability to affected populations are also key duties.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in information management, humanitarian reporting, monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, or emergency coordination support is required. Experience in developing dashboards, managing large datasets, and preparing situation reports is essential. Experience with humanitarian organizations and supporting emergency operations is highly desirable. Proficiency in advanced Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or GIS applications is a plus.
