Job Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to support the UN Resident Coordinator's Office in Guyana with communications and advocacy initiatives. The volunteer will contribute to promoting inclusive and sustainable human development by developing communication products and digital content. This includes creating materials for key events like the Model United Nations and the UN Guyana 60th anniversary, as well as supporting digital campaigns for the 16 Days of Activism. The role is crucial for amplifying development messages, engaging the public, and increasing awareness of the UN's efforts in Guyana.
Responsibilities
The volunteer will support communications planning and execution for key UN events in Guyana. This includes developing branding and creating materials for the inaugural Model United Nations and assisting with the communications plan for the UN Guyana 60th anniversary event. The role also involves supporting the development of digital campaigns for the 16 Days of Activism, including monitoring and analyzing campaign performance metrics. Finally, the volunteer will compile a comprehensive report summarizing all activities and outputs undertaken during the assignment.
Work Experience
Required experience includes professional work in communications, digital media, journalism, public information, advocacy, social media management, or content creation. Experience in producing and editing videos for various platforms, drafting communication materials for diverse audiences, and supporting events is necessary. Experience with international organizations or development partners is desirable.
Skills
Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut) and graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is essential. Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English are required. Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube) and Microsoft Office applications is necessary. Excellent communication and organizational skills are valued.
