Job Purpose

This role supports the WFF Youth Film Festival's Film Impact Screenings initiative by translating subtitles from English into Thai. The purpose is to enhance the accessibility and reach of selected films and supporting materials to a wider audience across Asia and the Pacific, particularly in preparation for the International Year of the Woman Farmer (IYWF) 2026. By localizing content, the volunteer will help engage youth, community organizations, and partners, fostering dialogue on agrifood systems, gender equality, and youth empowerment, and amplifying the voices of women farmers.

Responsibilities

The Online Volunteer will translate subtitle files from English into Thai, ensuring accuracy, readability, and cultural relevance. This includes adapting terminology while preserving the original meaning and intent. The volunteer will also review translations for quality assurance, engage in peer review with fellow volunteers, and contribute to the translation of accompanying Film Impact Screening toolkits and guidance materials. The role aims to increase the accessibility of WFF content for non-English speaking audiences, supporting broader engagement and amplifying the initiative's impact.

Work Experience

No specific work experience is required. However, candidates should possess intermediate or advanced English proficiency and advanced or native proficiency in writing and translating from English to Thai. Experience with translation and localization is beneficial.

Required skills include advanced or native proficiency in written Thai and fluent English. The role requires attention to detail for accurate translation, cultural sensitivity for localization, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
