Job Purpose

The Mechanical Engineer applies fundamental engineering concepts to gather and analyze data, supporting specialists and managers in the design, review, and supervision of mechanical engineering aspects for projects. This role involves interpreting rules and procedures, making initial recommendations based on straightforward analysis, and preparing documentation. The position provides foundational expertise in mechanical engineering, contributing to the successful execution of project components related to mechanical systems and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

The Mechanical Engineer will provide technical support and design review for mechanical systems, including potable water supply, irrigation, and building services (HVAC, fire safety, plumbing). Responsibilities include coordinating and supervising installations, assisting in procurement, designing and reviewing mechanical systems, and preparing tender documents. The role involves producing design calculations, drawings, and scope of works, reviewing pump selections, and approving contractor submittals. Additionally, the engineer will support project assessment, quality assurance, and ensure designs meet international standards. They will also assist with software usage, administrative tasks, archiving, and contribute to WASH and pump supervision, including reviewing designs and supervising installations.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of experience is required in mechanical, firefighting, and plumbing systems design, supervision, and construction for medium to large-scale projects. Experience in project assessment, design, and supervision for rehabilitation or construction projects is also necessary. Proficiency in AutoCAD and HAP software is essential, along with strong computer skills. Experience with international organizations and G-Suite is desirable.
