Job Purpose

The Structural Engineer applies fundamental structural engineering principles to gather and analyze data, interpret standards, and support project specialists and managers in the assessment, design review, and implementation of construction projects. This role is crucial for ensuring high-quality standards in infrastructure rehabilitation, monitoring progress, and preparing technical documentation to support the Nexus Response Mechanism's objectives in Syria, contributing to resilience and sustainable recovery.

Responsibilities

The Structural Engineer is responsible for contributing to structural design and analysis, including drawings, calculations, and reports for potable water supply and irrigation infrastructure. This involves providing assessment, design review, and technical support for various structures, preparing and reviewing design briefs and documentation, and ensuring adherence to quality standards and codes. The role also includes contributing to project implementation through site inspections, quality assurance, and coordination with other disciplines. Additionally, the engineer will provide technical coordination and administrative support, liaising with clients, managing design-related archives, and assisting with task scheduling.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of practical civil engineering experience is required. Experience with UN or humanitarian agencies, proficiency in structural analysis software, and experience in structural assessment or supervision of water supply or irrigation infrastructure are desirable.
