Job Purpose
The Electrical Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation and oversight of infrastructure projects, specifically focusing on the electrical aspects. This position ensures that all electrical construction activities adhere strictly to design specifications, project timelines, and relevant safety and environmental standards. The incumbent is responsible for the quality control of electrical installations, including solar panels and power grids, and for validating performance through rigorous testing. Effective coordination with contractors, design offices, and internal stakeholders is essential to guarantee the successful, timely, and budget-compliant delivery of high-quality infrastructure works, contributing directly to the project's objectives.
Responsibilities
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality of electrical installations, including solar panels, inverters, and related equipment, by closely monitoring site work and subcontractor adherence to technical specifications. This includes conducting and supervising commissioning tests to validate performance and compliance with standards, and documenting/rectifying any non-conformities. The role involves managing and supervising electrical subcontractors, verifying their deliverables against contractual requirements, and recommending contract adjustments as needed. Risk management is key, requiring the assessment of technical and safety risks associated with electrical systems and ensuring compliance with international safety standards. Effective stakeholder coordination with contractors, suppliers, and local authorities is vital for project delivery. The engineer will also assist in guiding site personnel, participating in coordination meetings, and fostering positive community relations. Furthermore, the role supports knowledge sharing through training sessions and contributes to research on infrastructure and project management.
Work Experience
Required experience includes electrical engineering or related fields, with proven experience in managing energy infrastructure projects, preferably in rural or remote settings. Experience working in multicultural environments or with UN organizations in developing countries is desirable, as is experience in development or humanitarian contexts. Specific experience in electrical engineering, particularly with solar systems or renewable energy projects, is highly recommended.
