Organizational Context

Job Purpose

To support the implementation of the 'Skills for Decent Employment in Zambian Artisanal and Small-scale Mining' project by strengthening the institutional ecosystem for skills development and equipping ASM operators with improved technical and entrepreneurial capacities. The role focuses on community outreach and awareness-raising to address structural constraints in the ASM sector, particularly for women and youth.

Responsibilities

Design and implement community outreach strategies, plan and conduct field visits and engagement activities, build relationships with local communities and authorities, deliver awareness-raising sessions and campaigns, identify community needs and concerns, source and screen beneficiaries for training, support community-level coordination, and contribute to project reporting.

Work Experience

Minimum of three years of professional experience in community outreach, awareness-raising, social mobilization, or gender/GESI programming. Experience in designing and delivering community-level awareness-raising sessions or campaigns is required. Desirable experience includes evaluating needs in Luapula province or similar regions, working with government and development agencies, engaging with artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) communities or the extractives sector, knowledge of the Luapula ASM context, developing communication/learning products, and working with UN agencies or international development organizations.

Skills

Community engagement, social mobilization, GESI programming, designing and delivering awareness-raising sessions, needs assessment, beneficiary identification, project coordination, communication, partnership building, and reporting. Familiarity with the artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) sector and its challenges is beneficial.
