National Lead Technical Advisor

Job Purpose
To provide technical leadership and expertise for the project 'Skills for Decent Employment in Zambian Artisanal and Small-scale Mining in the Critical Mineral Value Chains', aiming to address structural constraints in the ASM sector by strengthening institutional capacity for skills development and equipping operators with improved technical and entrepreneurial skills.
Responsibilities
Lead technical coordination of the Project Management Unit, provide technical advice on project implementation, budget, and risk management. Formulate technical inputs for policies, guidelines, and capacity-building tools. Ensure quality assurance of project outputs and provide day-to-day technical guidance. Integrate cross-cutting themes like GESI, OHS, and environmental compliance. Represent the project in high-level forums and foster strategic relationships. Lead the design and delivery of institutional capacity-building support and training curricula. Ensure timely communication and reporting to UNIDO HQ.
Work Experience
Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in implementing technical cooperation/development projects at the national level. Required experience includes the artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) sector or the extractives/mining industry, capacity-building, skills development, and/or business-oriented assistance, and technical leadership/advisory roles. Desirable experience includes evaluating needs in Zambia or similar regions, and working with government and development agencies.
