Organizational Context

UNIDO supports Member States in shaping their industries for development, focusing on areas like renewable energy, sustainable supply chains, and skills development. The organization operates through technical cooperation, research, normative functions, and partnerships.
Job Purpose
To coordinate the implementation of the "Skills for Decent Employment in Zambian Artisanal and Small-scale Mining" project in Luapula province, strengthening the institutional ecosystem for skills development and equipping artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) operators with improved technical, entrepreneurial, and organizational capacities.
Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day project execution in Luapula province, coordinate local partners and consultants, manage project activities, promote project visibility, support capacity building of partners and beneficiaries, and provide regular reporting to UNIDO HQ. This includes planning, implementation, outreach, and reporting on project activities, ensuring alignment with project goals and frameworks.
Work Experience
Minimum of five years of professional experience in coordinating development/technical cooperation programmes/projects at the national level. Experience in evaluating country/regional needs and problems, liaising with local government and community organizations, and working with development agencies is required. Experience with donor communities, private sector, consultants, contractors, the ASM sector, and UN agencies is desirable.
Skills
Strong project coordination and implementation skills, ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders (government, CSOs, training centers, private sector), capacity building facilitation, reporting, and problem-solving. Familiarity with sustainable development, skills development, entrepreneurship, and fair trade practices is beneficial. Understanding of the artisanal and small-scale mining sector and the specific context of Luapula province is desirable.
