National Provincial Coordinator
Organizational Context
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) promotes inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) in Member States, aligning with the 2030 Agenda and SDG-9. UNIDO focuses on areas such as renewable energy, sustainable access, climate action, and fair supply chains, utilizing technical cooperation, research, normative functions, and partnerships. The Directorate of SDG Innovation and Economic Transformation (IET) develops innovative services in agro-industry, sustainability standards, and climate technologies, fostering new concepts, finance sources, and partnerships.
Job Purpose
To coordinate the implementation of the "Skills for Decent Employment in Zambian Artisanal and Small-scale Mining" project in Kitwe and Solwezi provinces, addressing structural constraints in the ASM sector to improve informality, productivity, working conditions, business organization, and access to finance, technical, and entrepreneurial skills, with a focus on women and youth.
Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day project operations in Kitwe and Solwezi, ensuring alignment with project goals. Coordinate short-term consultants, experts, and service providers. Liaise with local partners, including training centers, CSOs, local authorities, and ASM associations. Facilitate project activities, including training center upgrades and service provision. Manage project assets and maintain provincial asset registers. Support community outreach and awareness activities. Represent the project at provincial events. Facilitate capacity-building activities for partners and beneficiaries. Provide regular activity updates and contribute to project reporting. Undertake field travel within the provinces and other project areas as required.
Work Experience
Minimum of five years of professional experience in coordinating development/technical cooperation programmes/projects at the national level. Experience in assessing country/regional needs, conditions, and problems. Proven experience liaising with local government, community organizations, training institutions, or the private sector at the provincial/district level. Desirable experience includes working with development agencies, donor communities, private sectors, and UN agencies/international organizations, as well as experience in the artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) sector or extractives industry, particularly in the Copperbelt/North-Western context.

Strong coordination and project management skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse local partners. Experience in operational planning, resource needs assessment, and activity scheduling. Skills in managing consultants, experts, and service providers. Competency in asset management and record-keeping. Experience in promoting project visibility and conducting outreach activities. Capacity building and troubleshooting skills. Effective reporting and communication abilities. Familiarity with the artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) sector and its challenges is desirable.
