Organizational Context

UNICEF operates in over 190 countries, dedicated to saving children's lives, defending their rights, and helping them fulfill their potential from early childhood through adolescence. We are committed, passionate, and proud of our work, viewing the promotion of every child's rights not just as a job, but as a calling. UNICEF offers diverse opportunities for professional and personal development.

Job Purpose

The Oky Digital Public Good (DPG) is an open-source mobile application designed for adolescent girls to provide information on menstruation and adolescent health, address stigma, and bridge the gender digital divide. As Oky scales globally across 13+ countries, this role is crucial for ensuring consistent and coordinated support from the UNICEF Oky core team to country teams and local partners. The consultant will serve as a single point of contact for Oky franchise partnerships, ensuring deployment teams and partners receive timely expertise, that progress is visible across all deployments, and that learnings from country-level initiatives are integrated back into the global Oky community. This position is key to advancing girls' digital literacy and contributions within the Oky network, ensuring their perspectives influence the technology's direction.

Responsibilities

The Senior Consultant will lead Oky’s country partnerships and advance girls’ digital literacy and contributions across the Oky network. This involves serving as the primary point of contact for country teams and local partners, facilitating effective communication and coordination between them and the global Oky core team. The consultant will oversee the localization, launch, and ongoing operations of Oky in various countries, addressing specific needs related to technology adaptation, technical support, and capacity development in areas such as technology, disability inclusion, and Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL). A key responsibility is to ensure that country-specific learnings and innovations are captured and fed back into the global Oky ecosystem, contributing to continuous improvement. Furthermore, the consultant will design and implement pathways for girls' digital literacy and participation, ensuring their co-creation and contributions are integrated into Oky's features, roadmap, and product development. This includes championing girls' perspectives in technology decisions, with a focus on privacy, data protection, safeguarding, and accessibility. The role also involves tracking progress against donor commitments and identifying new opportunities for Oky's expansion and impact.

Work Experience

At least ten years of progressively responsible professional experience in digital development and digital inclusion, with demonstrated experience leading or advising on girls’ digital literacy, digital skills, or digital participation in low- and middle-income countries.
