Organizational Context

UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfill their potential. We are committed, passionate, and proud of what we do for as long as we are needed. Promoting the rights of every child is not just a job – it is a calling.

Job Purpose

The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) leads regional coordination for the implementation of the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent. This strategy requires a credible and sustainable evidence base that connects regional priorities, collective actions, and initiatives to clear data, learning, and accountability. The regional data ecosystem is rich but fragmented, with data existing across various entities but not consistently connected to the 2050 Strategy reporting or systematically used to inform policy and advocacy. PIFS is approaching major milestones, including the 2027 Outcome Report and the 2028 Deep Dive thematic analysis, necessitating a stronger, more integrated evidence base. This consultancy aims to provide support to strengthen the 2050 data and evidence systems to meet these evolving needs.

Responsibilities

The Data Expert Consultant will provide critical support to strengthen the 2050 regional data and evidence systems. This includes assessing the current data landscape, identifying gaps and opportunities for integration, and developing strategies to enhance data collection, analysis, and reporting mechanisms. The consultant will work to ensure that data is systematically connected to the 2050 Strategy reporting requirements and effectively used to inform partnerships, policy analysis, and advocacy efforts across the regional architecture. Key responsibilities will involve mapping existing data sources, understanding data governance frameworks, and recommending improvements for data accessibility and utilization. The consultant will also contribute to the development of tools and platforms that facilitate better data sharing and evidence generation. This role is essential for supporting PIFS in achieving its reporting milestones and strengthening the evidence base for regional development and cooperation in the Blue Pacific Continent.
