Technical Officer, P-2, Temporary Position, 364 days, Supply Division, Copenhagen, Denmark #00138905
Organizational Context
UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfill their potential. At UNICEF, we are committed, passionate, and proud of what we do for as long as we are needed. Promoting the rights of every child is not just a job – it is a calling.
Job Purpose
The fundamental mission of UNICEF is to promote the rights of every child, everywhere, in everything the organization does — in programs, in advocacy, and in operations. The equity strategy, emphasizing the most disadvantaged and excluded children and families, translates this commitment to children’s rights into action. For UNICEF, equity means that all children have an opportunity to survive, develop, and reach their full potential, without discrimination, bias or favoritism. UNICEF works with governments and partners to strengthen health systems and supply chains, ensuring that vaccines and other temperature-sensitive health products remain safe, effective and accessible, including in resource-constrained settings. Within Supply Division, the Infrastructure and Energy Centre (IEC) supports the technical quality, sustainability and deployment of fit-for-purpose cold chain, energy, infrastructure and related technology solutions.
Responsibilities
The Technical Support Unit (TSU) is a cross-cutting function within IEC that promotes technical quality, harmonization, knowledge management and continuous improvement across cold chain, energy, infrastructure, oxygen and related technical areas. TSU capabilities include providing technical guidance, developing standards and guidelines, facilitating knowledge sharing, and supporting capacity building for UNICEF country offices and implementing partners. The role of the Technical Officer will involve contributing to these efforts by providing technical expertise, supporting the development of technical documentation, assisting in the organization of training and knowledge sharing events, and contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of technical interventions. This position will support the overall objectives of the IEC and TSU in ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of UNICEF’s supply chain and infrastructure programs, with a focus on technical excellence and sustainability.
