We are committed, passionate, and proud of our work, viewing the promotion of every child's rights as a calling. UNICEF offers diverse opportunities for professional and personal development.
Job Purpose
UNICEF China is undertaking a 12-month study on community climate adaptation for children, women, and families. This study aims to identify and analyze good practices through policy review, evidence analysis, and comparative case studies across approximately 10 communities in China. The research will investigate how adaptation practices function in various contexts, their impact on the adaptive capacity and participation of children and women, enabling conditions for effectiveness, and how lessons learned can inform broader policy and practice in China. The consultant will provide specialized technical support to ensure gender considerations are integrated effectively into the research framework, methodology, data interpretation, and recommendations, complementing the national research team's expertise.
Responsibilities
The Senior International Consultant will provide targeted technical backstopping and quality assurance to the UNICEF China research team throughout the study on community climate adaptation for children, women, and families. This involves ensuring gender considerations are integrated in a technically sound, context-appropriate, and practically useful manner. The consultant will draw upon relevant UNICEF gender equality and climate-related policies and technical frameworks, as well as international best practices, to enhance the quality of the analytical framework, case selection strategy, research tools, interpretation of findings, and final recommendations. The role is advisory and technical-review focused, complementing the national team's expertise without duplicating it. The consultant will not be responsible for primary data collection, overall research management, or the preparation of case studies themselves, but will support the integration of gender dimensions into these processes.
