Job Purpose

The UNICEF Supply Division is initiating Phase 1 of a Sustainability Data Management (SDM) system to address a critical gap in systematically collecting, verifying, analyzing, and reporting sustainability data across its supply chain. Sustainability, encompassing environmental, social, and safeguarding dimensions, is a core UNICEF priority. Currently, the absence of a centralized system leads to fragmented and resource-intensive processes. This consultancy aims to develop foundational elements of an SDM system, including data requirements, verification methodologies, governance structures, and an implementation roadmap, to strengthen ESG risk management, meet donor expectations, and support data-driven procurement decisions.

Responsibilities

Develop the foundational elements of a Sustainability Data Management (SDM) system for UNICEF Supply Division. Design appropriate governance structures for the SDM system. Create a comprehensive implementation roadmap for the phased rollout of the system. Strengthen ESG risk management capabilities within the supply chain. Ensure compliance with increasing donor expectations for sustainability reporting. Support data-driven procurement decisions by providing reliable and accessible sustainability data. Facilitate effective monitoring and reporting of sustainability performance across the supply chain. Collaborate with various teams, including IT, technical, and commercial profiles, to ensure efficient data collection and management across the organization. Translate sustainability data into actionable insights for stakeholders, including non-technical audiences. Prepare technical reports documenting the system design and implementation plan.

Work Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in sustainability projects and/or management. Demonstrable experience in sustainability reporting, preferably within supply chain management.
