Acuerdo a Largo Plazo - Servicios de Interpretación Simultánea, Perú/LAC, 3 años
Organizational Context
UNICEF collaborates with governments, international organizations, civil society, the private sector, academia, and other strategic partners to promote and protect the rights of children and adolescents. To ensure fluid, accurate, and high-quality communication among participants, professional interpreters are needed for meetings, workshops, conferences, and events organized by UNICEF.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to establish one or more Long-Term Agreements (LTAs) for Multilingual Simultaneous Interpretation Services for meetings, workshops, conferences, and events organized by UNICEF in Peru and the LAC region. These LTAs will ensure the availability of highly qualified professional interpreters to facilitate clear and precise communication across various languages. The services may be required in-person, virtual, or hybrid formats, depending on the specific needs of UNICEF events. The agreements will be non-binding, meaning they do not constitute a commitment to purchase services but rather a framework for procuring them when needed over a fixed period, with fixed terms of reference and unit prices. The LTAs will be established for an initial period of one year, with the possibility of extension for a second and third year, contingent upon satisfactory performance.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility is to provide professional, highly qualified simultaneous interpretation services for UNICEF events. This includes participating in prior coordination meetings to understand the context and requirements of each event. Interpreters must guarantee linguistic quality, terminological accuracy, and confidentiality of the information discussed. They are expected to review agendas, presentations, and reference documentation in advance to prepare adequately. Ensuring adequate interpreter rotation (duos) is crucial for events of long duration or high complexity. When required, interpreters may need to facilitate necessary technical equipment for the service, excluding booths or equipment for groups larger than 10 people. Coordination with UNICEF on technical and logistical aspects before the event is essential. The preparation of thematic glossaries when necessary is also a key responsibility. Interpreters must be available for national travel within Peru if required by the event. The service is considered 'all-inclusive,' meaning any unforeseen expenses required for the service delivery will be covered by the professional, except for travel costs which will be covered by UNICEF if required.
Work Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in simultaneous interpretation services is required. Demonstrated experience with international organizations, international cooperation, governments, multilateral organizations, or regional-level events is essential. Experience and operational capacity to conduct hybrid and virtual events are also necessary.
