Job Purpose
The consultant will support the Nutrition team and the Advocacy and Communication Section to implement, monitor and update the nutrition advocacy and communication plan, including the Child Nutrition Fund (CNF) country communications plan. The role aims to produce timely advocacy, media, digital and donor-facing materials to maximize the gains achieved from nutrition advocacy and communication and strengthen follow-on action from UNICEF Philippines' nutrition priorities. The assignment will specifically support advocacy around the first 1,000 days/maternal nutrition, stunting and wasting, and healthy food environments. This includes institutionalization of MMS in routine antenatal care, strengthening local nutrition systems and service consistency, scaling severe acute malnutrition detection/referral/outpatient care, and advancing protections from unhealthy food marketing and healthier school and community food environments.
Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Chief of Advocacy and Communication/Officer in Charge, and the Nutrition Manager, the consultant will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and updating the nutrition advocacy and communication plan. This includes the Child Nutrition Fund (CNF) country communications plan. The consultant will produce timely advocacy, media, digital, and donor-facing materials to support UNICEF Philippines' nutrition priorities. Key areas of focus will include advocacy for the first 1,000 days, maternal nutrition, stunting and wasting, and healthy food environments. Specific tasks involve supporting the institutionalization of MMS in routine antenatal care, strengthening local nutrition systems and service consistency, scaling up severe acute malnutrition detection, referral, and outpatient care, and advancing protections from unhealthy food marketing. The consultant will also work towards creating healthier school and community food environments, ensuring that communication strategies effectively support these critical nutrition objectives.
Work Experience
Minimum of eight years of progressively responsible experience in advocacy, communication, media, and digital content production.
