Organizational Context
UNICEF works in over 190 countries to save children's lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfill their potential. In Cameroon, UNICEF has been supporting the realization of women's and children's rights since 1975, focusing on health, education, child protection, and social inclusion, particularly for vulnerable populations.
Job Purpose
UNICEF Cameroon, in collaboration with national stakeholders, has launched the 'I Am Music' program to foster a Protective Learning Environment (PLE) for vulnerable children and adolescents, especially girls. This program offers free music education inspired by the El Sistema methodology, aiming to develop life skills, emotional resilience, and social inclusion through collective musical practice. To ensure high-quality implementation, strategic scaling, and strong institutional coordination, UNICEF seeks a consultant to provide essential technical, programmatic, and coordination support to the 'I Am Music' program, contributing to its success and national expansion.
Responsibilities
The consultants will provide technical, programmatic, and coordination support to the 'I Am Music' program under the supervision of the Education Specialist (Protective Learning Environment). Key responsibilities include coordinating and monitoring the implementation of activities in existing music nuclei across Cameroon, contributing to the production of the 80th Anniversary anthem for UNICEF Cameroon, and collaborating with the communication team to showcase program results. They will also be responsible for documenting good practices, success stories, and lessons learned, and producing human-interest stories and visibility content to highlight the program's impact. The consultants will implement tools to monitor program outcomes and maintain an updated activity dashboard, ensuring effective tracking and reporting of progress.
Work Experience
The role requires musical skills, knowledge in musical pedagogy, and familiarity with Child Rights and PSEA. Additionally, knowledge of the 'I Am Music' Program and the El Sistema methodology is essential.
