Job Purpose
The WASH Officer (Emergency) will report to the Chief of WASH (Level 4) and provide technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the WASH programming process. This role involves preparing, managing, and implementing various technical and administrative tasks related to the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of WASH output results within the country programme. The position is crucial for ensuring effective WASH interventions, particularly in emergency contexts, contributing to the overall goals of the UNICEF Niger Country Programme and the well-being of children.
Responsibilities
The WASH Officer (Emergency) will be responsible for programme development and planning, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives and national priorities. They will manage, monitor, and deliver results for WASH programmes, with a particular focus on emergency preparedness and response. This includes providing essential technical and operational support for the effective implementation of WASH activities. A key aspect of the role involves networking and building partnerships with government bodies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to enhance WASH interventions. Furthermore, the officer will contribute to innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the WASH sector, ensuring that best practices are shared and adopted. This includes managing and analyzing data, reporting on progress, and understanding national government WASH policies to inform programme strategies and interventions.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible professional experience in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programming is required. Experience in humanitarian preparedness, response, and recovery is also necessary.
