Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to support the effective coordination and implementation of a significant multi-country partnership between UNICEF and Airtel Africa, focused on promoting digital learning across six countries in the West and Central Africa Region (WCAR). The project coordinator will be instrumental in managing the day-to-day activities, tracking progress, and ensuring alignment with partnership goals and timelines. This role is crucial for connecting schools to the internet, providing access to digital education platforms, and advocating for digital education inclusion for African children. The coordinator will facilitate collaboration between UNICEF and Airtel Africa teams, support reporting, and contribute to communication and advocacy efforts to maximize the impact of this initiative.
Responsibilities
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of activities across UNICEF regional and country offices and Airtel Africa's teams, ensuring smooth collaboration and execution of the partnership's objectives. This includes tracking implementation progress across all six partner countries, verifying alignment with established goals and timelines, and facilitating joint work planning sessions, co-creation workshops, and technical meetings. The coordinator will also liaise with UNICEF's Giga and Learning Passport teams to ensure synergy between digital learning and connectivity components. A key responsibility involves drafting a white paper on expanding the connectivity partnership to include out-of-school children in phase two. Furthermore, the role entails updating and maintaining the Airtel monthly KPI reporting document and dashboard, consolidating quarterly and annual progress reports that highlight reach, achievements, challenges, and lessons learned. The coordinator will support data collection and reporting on critical KPIs, such as the number of schools connected and learners reached, and ensure the timely submission of progress updates and donor reports. Additionally, they will support communication and advocacy efforts by liaising with UNICEF and Airtel communication teams for joint visibility activities, assisting in organizing high-level events and campaigns, and drafting communication briefs, case studies, and success stories.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in designing, managing, coordinating, or technically advising digital education activities, preferably within multi-country, international development contexts.
