Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to bolster UNICEF’s Migration and Displacement Hub by coordinating and implementing the Route-Based Approach (RBA) programme. The RBA focuses on enhancing protection for migrant children, their families, and host communities along migration routes through enhanced cross-border collaboration and technical assistance. The consultant will provide crucial coordination support, contribute to reporting, and deliver other programme-related outputs. This role involves close collaboration with UNICEF headquarters, regional and country offices, and key partners like IOM and Save the Children. Additionally, the consultant will play a role in documenting lessons learned and supporting UNICEF's engagement in global and regional policy discussions to promote sustainable, rights-based solutions for children on the move.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and implement the Route-Based Approach (RBA) programme in collaboration with UNICEF headquarters, regional offices, country offices, and external partners such as IOM and Save the Children. Provide technical assistance and support to enhance protection for migrant children, their families, and host communities along migration routes. Facilitate cross-border collaboration among stakeholders involved in the RBA programme. Develop and submit regular progress reports on programme activities and outcomes. Contribute to the documentation of lessons learned and best practices from the RBA implementation. Support UNICEF's engagement in global and regional policy dialogues related to migration, displacement, and child protection. Assist in the development of communication materials and knowledge products related to the RBA programme. Liaise with relevant government authorities and civil society organizations to ensure effective programme delivery. Monitor and evaluate programme activities, identifying challenges and proposing solutions. Contribute to the overall strategic direction and operational planning of the Migration and Displacement Hub.
Work Experience
At least 5 years of progressively responsible professional work experience in migration and displacement programme coordination. Prior experience working with complex partnerships of UN/multilateral institutions is required. Previous experience with policy and data analysis and reporting with UNICEF or other UN agencies is strongly preferred. Experience working in Ethiopia, Somalia, Libya, Tunisia, or Egypt is preferred.
