Job Purpose

The Education Officer (NO-2) in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, will play a crucial role in advancing quality, equitable, and inclusive education for children. This position supports programme planning, implementation, and monitoring, with a focus on development, humanitarian, and nexus contexts. The officer will strengthen partnerships with government and implementing partners, utilize data and evidence for informed decision-making, and contribute to effective coordination and reporting. Reporting to the Chief of Education, the role aims to translate education programmes into tangible results, enhance programme delivery, and support UNICEF and its partners in addressing educational needs and expanding learning opportunities, especially in complex and emergency situations.

Responsibilities

The Education Officer will be responsible for supporting programme development and planning across development, nexus, and emergency contexts. This includes managing programmes, monitoring progress, and ensuring the delivery of results. The role involves providing technical and operational support for programme implementation, fostering networking and partnership building with government counterparts and implementing partners. Additionally, the officer will contribute to innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the education sector. Key tasks include monitoring workplans, budgets, results, and indicators, and ensuring alignment with UNICEF's mandate and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The position requires strong analytical, drafting, coordination, and organizational skills to effectively contribute to UNICEF's mission in Haiti.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in education programme planning, implementation, monitoring, partnership management, data analysis, and reporting is required. Experience in Education in Emergencies, including planning, implementation, and monitoring of education responses in humanitarian settings, is also required.
