Job Purpose

The Child Protection Manager, reporting to the Chief, Child Protection, plays a crucial role in supporting the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of child protection programmes within the country. This position provides essential technical guidance and management support throughout the programming cycle. The Manager is responsible for ensuring concrete and sustainable contributions to national and international efforts to create a safe environment for children, protecting them from all forms of harm. This includes safeguarding their rights to survival, development, and well-being, as outlined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child and other international frameworks. The role is pivotal in achieving measurable results and fostering a protective environment for children in Ukraine.

Responsibilities

The Child Protection Manager is accountable for supporting the development and planning of child protection programmes, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's mandate and national priorities. This includes conducting needs assessments, developing project proposals, and contributing to the country programme's overall strategy. The Manager will oversee the day-to-day management, implementation, and monitoring of child protection projects, ensuring timely delivery of results and adherence to quality standards. This involves managing budgets, resources, and staff effectively. Providing technical and operational support to programme implementation is key, offering guidance to national counterparts and partners on child protection best practices. The role also involves building and maintaining strong networks and partnerships with government ministries, NGOs, UN agencies, and other stakeholders to enhance programme effectiveness and sustainability. Furthermore, the Manager will drive innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the child protection sector, documenting lessons learned and promoting evidence-based approaches. Regular reporting on programme progress, challenges, and outcomes to senior management and donors is also a core responsibility.

Work Experience

At least 8 years of relevant work experience in Child Protection, Social Development Planning, and Management in Child Protection-related areas.
