Job Purpose
The UNICEF Gujarat field office seeks a consultant to provide specialized technical support in communication, advocacy, and partnership. This role is crucial for developing and delivering key products that enhance UNICEF Gujarat's visibility, stimulate public discourse, support evidence-based advocacy, and strengthen engagement with stakeholders. The consultant will work to advance child rights priorities, focusing on adolescents and young people, by addressing gaps in visibility, policy attention, social mobilization, and partnership-building across critical areas like health, nutrition, education, child protection, climate action, and gender equality. This position is instrumental in convening stakeholders, converging efforts for programme integration, and catalyzing public discourse and resource mobilization to support children's rights in Gujarat.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic communication and advocacy plans to advance child rights priorities in Gujarat. This includes creating compelling content for various platforms, such as human-interest stories, social media updates, reports, and advocacy materials, tailored for government, development organizations, UN agencies, NGOs, and other institutions. The role involves mapping and engaging key stakeholders, including government departments, media, legislators, civil society, youth platforms, CSR partners, private sector actors, and academia, to foster collaboration and advance child rights agendas. The consultant will facilitate programme integration and joint action by translating programme evidence and field insights into strategic communication and partnership initiatives. Additionally, the consultant will drive public discourse and policy attention through targeted advocacy efforts, aiming to mobilize both financial and non-financial resources to support priority child rights issues. This includes strengthening visibility and partnership outcomes for children and young people in Gujarat, ensuring effective documentation of activities and results, and contributing to the overall visibility and impact of UNICEF's work in the region.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in strategic communication, advocacy, media engagement, development communication, or public relations is required. Demonstrated experience in developing communication products for various institutions and in stakeholder engagement is essential.
