Project Coordinator International Consultant - School Infrastructure and WASH Facilities (PAAF)

Job Purpose
The Project Coordinator will ensure effective day-to-day coordination, monitoring, and reporting of school construction and WASH infrastructure activities under the PAAF project. The incumbent will support the timely delivery of works in accordance with approved designs, technical specifications, contractual requirements, environmental and social safeguards, UNICEF standards, and project timelines. This role is crucial for ensuring that children have access to safe and adequate learning environments and essential WASH facilities, contributing directly to their well-being and educational continuity. The consultant will liaise with various stakeholders, including government bodies, local communities, contractors, and UNICEF teams, to facilitate smooth project implementation and address any challenges that may arise.
Responsibilities
Coordinate the day-to-day implementation of school infrastructure and WASH facilities projects under the PAAF initiative. Monitor the progress of construction and WASH activities, ensuring adherence to approved designs, technical specifications, and quality standards. Oversee contractor performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations, environmental, and social safeguards. Prepare regular progress reports, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations for the PAAF project. Facilitate communication and collaboration among all stakeholders, including government ministries, local authorities, community representatives, and UNICEF staff. Support the procurement processes for goods and services related to the project. Ensure that project activities are aligned with UNICEF's strategic goals and national development priorities in education and WASH. Identify potential risks and propose mitigation strategies to ensure timely project completion. Contribute to the development of project work plans and budgets. Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all project-related activities. Support field missions for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in project management, with a focus on school infrastructure and/or WASH facilities in a developing country context. Experience working with UN agencies or international organizations is an asset.
