Job Purpose

The Senior People & Culture Associate will contribute to the effective delivery of people and culture services within the UNICEF Multi-Country Office (MCO) for Sri Lanka and Maldives. This role provides comprehensive administrative, procedural, and operational support across various human resources functions, ensuring efficient implementation of HR processes and business partnering activities for all personnel categories. The position is crucial for delivering high-quality, timely, and client-focused HR services while maintaining strict compliance with UNICEF policies, procedures, and HR regulations. By supporting talent management, workforce planning, employee engagement, learning and development, and recruitment, the incumbent helps foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing work environment, ultimately enabling UNICEF to achieve its results for children.

Responsibilities

The Senior People & Culture Associate, under the guidance of the Multi-Country Representative, will provide essential administrative, procedural, and operational support for a wide array of HR functions within the MCO. This includes supporting business partnering initiatives aimed at attracting, developing, engaging, and retaining a high-performing workforce. The role requires a strong understanding of UNICEF policies, procedures, and systems to manage HR processes effectively, deliver client-oriented support, and ensure timely, compliant service delivery. Key accountabilities involve supporting recruitment, placement, and onboarding processes; assisting with the processing of entitlements and benefits; contributing to organization design and job classification efforts; and providing support for learning and capacity development initiatives. Through close collaboration with colleagues in Malé, Maldives, and the Regional Office, the incumbent will help foster an inclusive, supportive, and high-performing work environment that enables UNICEF to achieve its mission for children.

Work Experience

A minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience in human resources or a related administrative field is required. Experience in an international organization or UN system is highly desirable.
