Job Purpose

The Security Associate provides essential technical, operational, and administrative support to the Security Officer, ensuring the safety and security of UNICEF personnel and their families, as well as safeguarding UNICEF premises, assets, and resources at the duty station. The role requires strict adherence to supervisor instructions and UN Security policies, rules, and procedures. By offering efficient and effective assistance, the Security Associate directly contributes to the planning and implementation of robust security measures, thereby enhancing the overall safety and security framework within the duty station. This role is crucial for maintaining a secure environment conducive to UNICEF's mission of serving children and communities.

Responsibilities

The Security Associate's responsibilities are structured around four key areas: Security Planning, Safety and Security Services, Security Networking, and Support in Knowledge Management and Capacity Building. In Security Planning, the incumbent assists in developing and updating security plans and procedures. For Safety and Security Services, they provide direct support in monitoring security situations, responding to incidents, and implementing security measures. In Security Networking, the associate helps maintain and expand communication channels with local authorities and other UN agencies to gather and share security-related information. Finally, in Support in Knowledge Management and Capacity Building, the role assists in organizing security training sessions and disseminating security awareness materials to staff. The efficient execution of these duties ensures that security plans are effectively implemented and that personnel are adequately informed and prepared to mitigate security risks.

Work Experience

A minimum of six years of relevant work experience in security operations, security planning, risk management, physical security, incident management, law enforcement liaison, or field security is required. Experience in related fields is also considered.
