Job Purpose
The Information Management Officer will support the implementation and maintenance of UNICEF’s data systems and tools in Afghanistan. This role is vital for enhancing planning, reporting, and monitoring processes within the Country Office. The Officer will be responsible for cleaning, managing, and visualizing data, ensuring its quality and accessibility. A key aspect of the role involves providing capacity development and technical support to UNICEF field teams, extenders, and implementing partners on essential information management tasks. This position directly contributes to UNICEF's ability to effectively respond to children's needs and advocate for their rights in a challenging environment.
Responsibilities
The Information Management Officer will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of UNICEF’s data systems and tools, including the Afghanistan Information Management System (AIMS). This includes ensuring data quality through rigorous cleaning and validation processes, and managing data effectively for planning, reporting, and monitoring. The role involves developing analytical products and visualizations to support decision-making and programmatic insights. A significant part of the responsibility will be to provide capacity building and technical support to UNICEF staff, field teams, and implementing partners on various information management tasks, including data collection, analysis, and reporting. The Officer will also contribute to the systematic tracking of Annual Work Plan (AWP) and Country Programme Document (CPD) results, and support the integration of humanitarian and basic human needs indicators. Furthermore, the role requires contributing to key reports such as the Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP), UNSFA, Situation Reports (SitReps), and the Results Assessment Module (RAM), thereby strengthening partner accountability and evidence-based planning.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in information management, data management, geographical information systems, assessments, and situation analysis with the UN and/or NGOs is required. Experience demonstrating strong information management skills in a professional context is essential.
