Job Purpose
The Supply & Logistics Manager is responsible for managing the supply chains of a medium to large-sized country office or a medium-sized emergency response operation. This involves overseeing all aspects of the supply chain, including planning, procurement, contracting, customs clearance, warehousing, in-country transport, and distribution. The role requires close collaboration with programmes to define supply interventions that meet programmatic needs and achieve results for children. Additionally, the manager provides technical and advisory support to governments, national systems, and partners on supply chain management, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of supplies and services.
Responsibilities
The Supply & Logistics Manager will manage the Supply section, ensuring efficient service delivery and effective emergency response. Key accountabilities include overseeing the entire supply chain process from needs assessment, planning, procurement, and contracting, through to logistics, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation. The role involves collaborating closely with programme teams and implementing partners to align supply chain activities with programmatic objectives and to ensure timely delivery of essential supplies and services. Furthermore, the manager will provide crucial technical and advisory support to government and national systems to strengthen their supply chain capabilities. This includes identifying new opportunities, managing risks, and fostering innovation in products and markets to meet evolving challenges and organizational goals. The position also requires managing and monitoring the effective use of financial and material resources, and supervising a team of professional and support staff to achieve objectives.
Work Experience
A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience at national and international levels in supply, logistics, procurement, contracting, administration, or other directly related technical fields is required. Understanding of development and humanitarian work is essential.
