Job Purpose
The Education Officer (NO-2) will provide crucial technical assistance, coordination, and innovation support to Bangladesh's Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and Ministry of Education. This role is vital for advancing foundational and secondary education reforms, digital and cyber safety education, and promoting girls' engagement in STEAM during the substantive post-holder's absence. The officer will ensure the continuity of ongoing programs, including the Learning Enhancement Strategy (LES) Science pedagogy, Micro Skills programming, and National Student Assessment, while leading new initiatives in Cyber Safety, AI, Green Skills, and STEAM for students and teachers.
Responsibilities
The Education Officer will ensure the continuity of innovation, technology, and girls' education initiatives during the temporary absence of the substantive post-holder, strengthening government ownership of digital learning, cyber safety, AI, and STEAM. Key responsibilities include supporting the Game for Girls program, adapting AI competency training for female teachers, and sustaining national engagement campaigns for Cyber Safety and teacher training. The role involves providing technical support for Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) initiatives and continuing Micro Skills course development and research integration. Additionally, the officer will manage donor and partner relationships, including with Grameenphone, Skills for Girls, the French National Commission, and NCTB, ensuring compliance with UNICEF standards and national priorities. This position is critical for maintaining the momentum of the Education Section's portfolio, ensuring that ongoing initiatives continue to benefit adolescent learners, especially girls and the most vulnerable, by improving their learning opportunities in Bangladesh.
Work Experience
At least two years of professional experience in education program management, technical assistance, or coordination, preferably in developing countries. Experience in areas such as foundational learning, digital education, girls' education, or STEAM is desirable.
