Job Purpose
The Education Officer will provide professional technical, operational, and administrative support for education and Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs in the Solomon Islands, as part of the UNICEF Pacific Multi-Country Programme. This role involves assisting throughout the programming cycle, from development planning to results delivery. Key tasks include preparing, executing, reporting on, managing, and implementing various technical and operational program activities. The officer will facilitate program development, foster partnerships, monitor progress, and report on outcomes. The efficiency and effectiveness of the support provided will directly contribute to achieving sustainable results in improving learning outcomes and ensuring universal access to relevant, quality, equitable, and inclusive education in the Pacific region.
Responsibilities
The Education Officer will support programme development and planning, including contributing to situation analysis, goal setting, and results-based planning for education and ECD programmes. They will be responsible for programme management, monitoring, and delivery of results, tracking implementation progress, identifying challenges, preparing reports, and ensuring the delivery of expected outcomes. The role involves generating education data, conducting research, and producing evidence for informed decision-making. The officer will provide technical and operational support to programme implementation, including conducting quality programmatic visits for program assurance. Networking and partnership building with government, NGOs, and other stakeholders will be crucial. Additionally, the officer will contribute to innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the education sector, potentially assisting with curriculum and teacher professional development initiatives.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional work experience at the national and/or international levels is required in programme planning, implementation, community engagement and mobilization, management, monitoring, and/or research in education or a directly related field.
