Job Purpose
The Security Associate supports the Security Manager by providing practical, operational, and field-based assistance. This includes accompanying personnel on missions and field travel, observing the local situation, communicating relevant information, maintaining daily contact with local authorities and community stakeholders, and contributing to the protection of personnel, local staff, and UNICEF property. The role may also involve driving duties when necessary or in exceptional circumstances, ensuring strict adherence to UN security policies, rules, and procedures.
Responsibilities
The Security Associate's primary responsibilities include providing support for field missions and travel, ensuring security and safety services, liaising with local authorities, and gathering information. They will also contribute to knowledge management and capacity building efforts. This involves actively monitoring the security situation, reporting any incidents or potential threats, and implementing security measures as directed. The associate will maintain a network of contacts to facilitate information flow and assist in the coordination of security arrangements for UNICEF staff and assets. Additionally, they may be involved in conducting security assessments, supporting emergency response, and ensuring compliance with security protocols during all activities.
Work Experience
A minimum of six years of progressively responsible work experience in a security-related environment is required.
