Job Purpose

The Security Associate will provide essential practical, operational, and field-based security support in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. This role is crucial for safeguarding UNICEF personnel, premises, and assets. The incumbent will accompany staff on missions, observe and report security-related information, and maintain liaison with local authorities and community representatives. The position requires adherence to UN security policies and procedures, ensuring a secure environment for all UNICEF operations and staff, especially during official travel and within the duty station.

Responsibilities

The Security Associate will be responsible for providing comprehensive security support, including mission accompaniment and field movement oversight. Key duties involve observing and reporting on security-related information from the field, establishing and maintaining regular liaison with local authorities and community interlocutors to gather intelligence and foster cooperation. The role includes assisting in the safeguarding of UNICEF personnel, premises, and assets, both at the duty station and during official travel. Driving may be required under specific circumstances. The incumbent must perform duties with professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion, strictly adhering to UN security policies, rules, procedures, and established security protocols. This includes supporting knowledge management and capacity building within the security framework.

Work Experience

A minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in a security-related environment is required. Experience within the UN system or in developing countries is considered an asset.
