Job Purpose
The consultant will contribute to the analysis of existing policies and strategies, focusing on integrating the Triple Nexus approach into the national nutrition policy and its action plan. This includes incorporating the first 2,000 days of life approach into the strategic orientations of the new National Nutrition Policy (PNSN), aligning with national priorities for malnutrition prevention and household resilience. The role involves strengthening multisectoral coordination mechanisms, establishing an accountability framework for key contributing sectors with measurable commitments from sectoral ministries, and developing a multisectoral monitoring and evaluation framework with nexus indicators. Additionally, the consultant will develop a budgeted multisectoral action plan with sustainable financing mechanisms and propose a communication, advocacy, and resource mobilization strategy.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the analysis of existing policies and strategies related to nutrition in Niger. Integrate the Triple Nexus approach into the national nutrition policy and its action plan, ensuring coherence with national priorities. Incorporate the first 2,000 days of life approach into the strategic orientations of the new PNSN, focusing on malnutrition prevention and household resilience. Strengthen multisectoral coordination mechanisms among relevant ministries and stakeholders. Establish a robust accountability framework for key contributing sectors, including measurable commitments from sectoral ministries. Develop a comprehensive multisectoral monitoring and evaluation framework with integrated nexus indicators. Elaborate a budgeted multisectoral action plan that includes sustainable financing mechanisms. Propose an effective communication, advocacy, and resource mobilization strategy to support the implementation of the nutrition policy.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in nutrition governance. Proven experience in policy development. Experience working in fragile contexts. Experience in Africa/Sahel is highly desirable.
