Job Purpose
The Programme Associate supports the WASH section by carrying out a range of programme support functions to help develop, implement, and monitor the country programme. This role ensures effective and timely delivery of WASH initiatives, consistent with UNICEF rules and regulations. The Programme Associate works collaboratively with a variety of staff within the field office, external partners, and agency counterparts to support programme design and delivery. They provide regular feedback on project status through monitoring milestones and offer recommendations for improvements to keep activities on track, ensuring the successful execution of WASH strategies and objectives for the benefit of children.
Responsibilities
The Programme Associate provides programme support to the WASH section, assisting in the development, implementation, and monitoring of country programme activities. This includes managing programme documentation, tracking project progress against milestones, and reporting on key performance indicators. The role involves coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, including government counterparts, NGOs, and other UN agencies, to ensure effective collaboration and resource mobilization. The Programme Associate will assist in preparing programme reports, budget reviews, and financial monitoring, ensuring compliance with UNICEF's financial rules and regulations. They will also support the organization of meetings, workshops, and training sessions related to WASH programmes. Additionally, the incumbent will maintain programme records, databases, and filing systems, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is available for reporting and decision-making. This position requires proactive identification of potential issues and proposing solutions to ensure programme objectives are met efficiently and effectively.
Work Experience
At least six years of relevant work experience in administration, programme funding, programme management, programme communication, financial management, or related fields is required. Experience in programme support, working with the UN or another international organization, and in the WASH sector is desirable.
