Job Purpose

The Assistant Livelihood and Economic Inclusion Officer will support UNHCR's efforts in promoting economic self-reliance and inclusion for refugees and displaced populations. This involves assisting in the design, implementation, and monitoring of livelihood programs aimed at enhancing income-generating opportunities, skills development, and access to economic resources. The role contributes to empowering individuals and communities to achieve greater independence and resilience, thereby reducing dependency on humanitarian assistance and fostering sustainable solutions. The officer will work closely with refugees, local communities, government partners, and implementing partners to ensure programs are responsive to needs and aligned with UNHCR's strategic objectives for economic inclusion.

Responsibilities

Assist in the development and implementation of livelihood and economic inclusion strategies and projects for refugees and displaced persons. Support the assessment of needs and opportunities related to employment, entrepreneurship, and vocational training. Facilitate the delivery of livelihood support services, including skills development workshops, business start-up assistance, and job placement initiatives. Monitor the progress and impact of livelihood programs, collecting data and preparing regular reports on activities and outcomes. Collaborate with program staff, implementing partners, and local authorities to ensure effective program delivery and coordination. Provide technical guidance and support to beneficiaries and partners on livelihood-related issues. Contribute to the identification of partnerships with the private sector, NGOs, and government agencies to expand economic opportunities. Assist in managing project budgets and ensuring compliance with UNHCR financial procedures. Participate in field visits to project sites to provide oversight and gather feedback. Support the integration of livelihood activities with other sectors such as education, health, and protection.

Work Experience

Some years of relevant work experience in program support, preferably in livelihood, economic development, or humanitarian assistance.
