Job Purpose
The Security Guard will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment within UNHCR premises and ensuring the safety of staff, visitors, and assets. This role involves monitoring access points, conducting patrols, and responding to security incidents in accordance with established protocols. The Security Guard will play a crucial part in implementing the security plan and contributing to the overall security management of the office. This position requires vigilance, adherence to procedures, and the ability to act effectively in potentially challenging situations. The Security Guard will report to the Security Officer or designated supervisor, ensuring that all security operations are conducted with professionalism and integrity, thereby safeguarding UNHCR's operations and personnel in the assigned location.
Responsibilities
The Security Guard will be tasked with a range of duties to ensure the safety and security of UNHCR personnel and property. This includes controlling access to UNHCR premises, verifying the identity of individuals entering and exiting, and maintaining visitor logs. The Security Guard will conduct regular patrols of the office premises, including perimeter checks, to identify and report any security breaches, suspicious activities, or potential hazards. They will monitor security surveillance systems, such as CCTV, and respond promptly to alarms or alerts. In the event of an emergency, such as a fire or medical incident, the Security Guard will follow established emergency procedures, including evacuation protocols and providing initial assistance. They will also be responsible for enforcing security regulations and policies within the office, ensuring that all staff and visitors comply with security guidelines. Additionally, the Security Guard will assist in maintaining security equipment and reporting any malfunctions. This role requires maintaining a professional demeanor at all times and contributing to a secure and orderly working environment, supporting the overall security objectives of the UNHCR office.
Work Experience
A minimum of one year of experience as a security guard or in a related security role is required. Experience in a multicultural environment or with an international organization is desirable.
