Individual Consultancy to customize a training package on SRHR (including GBV and SEA) for adolescents, young people and parents/caregivers and community actors
Organizational Context
The consultant will report to the Technical Lead on SRHR/Youth at UNFPA Kenya Country Office, collaborating with the GBV/Gender Advisor and Deputy Representative. UNFPA is the UN agency dedicated to sexual and reproductive health, aiming to fulfill every young person's potential. The organization works to end unmet needs for family planning, preventable maternal deaths, gender-based violence, and harmful practices, while adapting to demographic changes through evidence-based policies.
Job Purpose
The UNFPA Kenya Country Office seeks an individual consultant to develop customized training packages on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), including Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA), for adolescents, young people, and their support networks. This role involves reviewing existing curricula, adapting them to specific age groups and contexts, and developing monitoring tools. The consultant will also validate these packages with stakeholders, conduct Training of Trainers (ToT) workshops, and provide technical support for county-level implementation, ultimately empowering young people and their communities with vital knowledge and skills.
Responsibilities
The consultant will conduct a thorough review and analysis of existing national and CSO curricula on SRHR, GBV, and PSEA, assessing their strengths and gaps against international guidelines. They will then draft tailored training modules for adolescents (15-19), young people (18-24), and parents/caregivers/community actors, integrating key elements of SEA, GBV, and SRHR. Additionally, the consultant will develop robust monitoring and evaluation (M&E) guidelines and tools, including pre- and post-test outcome measurement instruments. A validation workshop will be organized with key stakeholders to refine the packages. Finally, the consultant will facilitate a Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop and provide technical guidance for county-specific rollouts.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in SRHR, GBV prevention, PSEA, and youth/adolescent programming in Kenya. Proven experience in curriculum and training manual development for youth and community audiences, and expertise in designing M&E tools for training evaluations are essential. Strong facilitation and capacity-building skills, including leading ToTs and validation workshops, are also required.
