Consultant to Rapid Review and HCD Process for Out-of-School CSE Curriculum for Vulnerable Youth

Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to conduct a rapid review and facilitate a Human-Centered Design (HCD) process for an out-of-school Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) curriculum tailored for vulnerable youth. This role is critical in ensuring that the curriculum is relevant, effective, and responsive to the specific needs and contexts of the target population. The consultant will leverage expertise in education, public health, and HCD methodologies to develop a curriculum that promotes adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights (ASRH), life skills, and overall well-being, while also addressing critical issues such as online safety and gender-based violence.
Responsibilities
The consultant will undertake a rapid review of existing out-of-school CSE curricula and relevant literature, focusing on best practices and international guidelines. They will lead and facilitate participatory and human-centered design workshops with vulnerable youth and key stakeholders to gather insights and co-create curriculum content. This includes identifying key learning objectives, pedagogical approaches, and materials that are culturally appropriate and engaging. The consultant will also ensure the curriculum integrates essential components such as ASRH, life skills, gender equality, online safety, and mental health support. Furthermore, they will be responsible for drafting the out-of-school CSE curriculum, incorporating feedback from the HCD process, and ensuring alignment with UNFPA's mandate and ethical safeguarding principles.
Work Experience
A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in education, including CSE, life skills, ASRH, gender, and youth development, utilizing participatory or human-centered design approaches. Technical expertise in CSE curriculum development and adherence to international guidelines is required. Experience with youth SRHR, online safety, gender-based violence, digital literacy, and mental health is advantageous. Prior experience working with vulnerable youth, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, and applying ethical frameworks and safeguarding protocols is strongly preferred.
Skills
Proficiency in human-centered design methodologies, curriculum development, and participatory approaches. Strong understanding of adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights (ASRH), gender, youth development, online safety, and mental health. Excellent facilitation, communication, and analytical skills. Experience working with vulnerable populations and in low-resource contexts. Fluency in English.
