Individual Consultant (Local): Resource Mobilization and Partnerships
Organizational Context
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the UN's sexual and reproductive health agency, dedicated to a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. This role sits within the UNFPA India Country Office in New Delhi, contributing to the organization's resource mobilization efforts.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to support UNFPA's resource mobilization and partnership-building efforts in India. The consultant will play a key role in identifying and cultivating relationships with potential donors and partners, developing compelling proposals, and advocating for UNFPA's mandate. This position contributes to securing the necessary financial and strategic support to advance UNFPA's mission of promoting gender equality, empowering women and girls, and ensuring universal access to sexual and reproductive health services.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for identifying and mapping potential donors and partners, including national governments and private sector entities. This includes developing and implementing strategies for building strategic alliances and partnerships to enhance resource mobilization. The role involves advancing a policy-oriented agenda through effective advocacy and communication, both internally and externally, to support results mobilization. Furthermore, the consultant will contribute to delivering results-based programs by securing funding and will be involved in innovation, donor intelligence, and pipeline management to ensure a sustainable flow of resources for UNFPA's initiatives.
Work Experience
Requires progressively responsible professional work experience in fundraising within the development sector, with a proven track record in building partnerships and resource mobilization. Familiarity with the international development landscape, donor requirements, and the donor ecosystem is essential. Experience in identifying innovative solutions for resource mobilization is desirable.
Skills
Exceptional written and verbal communication, negotiation, and tact in partner interactions. Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and identify innovative solutions. Strong understanding of sexual and reproductive health, family planning, gender, and human rights.
