This project, funded by the Government of Flanders, aims to foster social cohesion and community recovery in Ukraine through creative industries, cultural exchanges, and support for the literature sector. It promotes culture and creativity as vital contributors to social inclusion, well-being, and reintegration amidst the ongoing conflict. The initiative engages cultural professionals, institutions, and communities, with a focus on war-affected populations and those facing barriers to cultural participation.
Job Purpose
The Communications Consultant will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate, accessible, and consistent communication of project activities and results. This involves supporting content planning and production, liaising with implementing partners, and covering project events, many of which are located in Lviv. The primary communication focus will be on Ukrainian-speaking audiences through institutional, partner, and media channels, while also facilitating information exchange with international partners and UNESCO colleagues. The role is essential for documenting implementation, sharing participant experiences, facilitating public engagement, and ensuring proper acknowledgement of UNESCO and donor contributions.
Responsibilities
The consultant is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive communication plan and content calendar aligned with project activities, identifying target audiences, key messages, and publication opportunities. This includes researching, drafting, and editing various communication materials such as articles, news items, press releases, website content, and social media posts, primarily in Ukrainian, with selected English summaries. The role involves serving as the primary communication liaison with implementing partners and coordinating outreach with Ukrainian authorities and cultural organizations. The consultant will also review partner communications for accuracy and visibility, plan and support event coverage, including in-person reporting in Lviv, and liaise with media. Additionally, the consultant will manage visual content, coordinate creative production, monitor communication performance, maintain an archive of materials, and prepare regular updates for project and donor reports.
Work Experience
Requires at least five years of relevant professional experience in communications, journalism, public information, or digital communication. Proven experience in independently planning and delivering communication activities, drafting and editing institutional materials, and managing event communication is essential. Experience in developing human-interest stories and coordinating visual content production is also necessary.
Skills
Key skills include a proactive and autonomous work approach, strong organizational and coordination abilities, and the capacity to manage competing priorities. The ability to translate communication needs into clear production briefs for creative service providers and to assess their outputs is important. Proficiency in preparing basic visual and written content for social media and meticulous attention to detail in editing, branding, and reporting are also crucial.
